I recorded the 2004 performance on a humble MiniDisc obtaining impressive results with a stock Sony stereo microphone. The only choice to make was mic placement, and I hit the right spot. In 2005, I recorded with an 8-channel ProTools rig. The resulting complexity and choices have made this a daunting project. I recorded the first set with an ambient pair of Behringer B-1 large condensors with a 20' spread. By the second set I had placed eight mics, and John "Bonsai" Merchant's axe was plugged in directly, providing an exceptionally clear and isolated bass track. Here's what I've mixed down from the first set. I'd like the band's opinion before continuing.
